Big Ben

I really do not know much about England, I know nothing about its history or its people. I think one or two times in an English class when I was in school, the teacher talked about England, my only knowledge about this country appeared in that class.

A place I would like is London. Especially the historic Big Ben. Big Ben is the name known to the Great Bell of Westminster, the largest of the bells found in the Clock Tower as part of the Great Clock of Westminster Palace of Westminster. The clock is famous for always giving the correct time, even during the bombing suffered by the city of London during World War II by the German Aviation (Luftwaffe), the clock kept running and giving the time with perfect punctuality. I think it would be entertaining to hear the sound of the clock and go to the palace.

A fun game

A good memory of when I was a child are the games with my cousins. I always traveled to Puerto Montt in the summer holidays. The days that is spent I played with my cousins, different games and we enjoyed making new games.Sometimes we played in the backyard (which is near the sea), but on rainy days, we had to stay indoors. When we stayed inside the house, we had to think of something to entertain.

I remember a fun game and very good that came from "a day of closure.", it game called “ EL Festival de Viña” , we prepared the living of the my grandmother´s house for the special occasion. We had a stage with red carpet where we sang. Each cousin imitated to a different singer, but one had that to be presenter. In our festival participed national and international artist,Chayanne and Luis Miguel always were invited , also Shakira and Lucerito. With my cousin Javiera and my sister always sang the song of Entel commercial for which we had a choreography. We passed the afternoon playing, singing and dancing, it was very funny. Sometimes my uncles participed of the festival and also singing , but they did not dance, because they were ashamed.

We played that game every summer since that I have memory until when the majority had 14 years aproximately. Memories are nice, a very pretty old, I would like to return to those days.

"Stone hand"

Like ever , I haven´t idea about that to write. I don´t know very much about important personages or historical figures of Chile. I´m an ignorant in chilean history, for this reason, I prefer to talk about a sport personage , very famous and talented. Maybe he isn´t the greatest Chilean of all time, but he is a great sportsman.

Fernando Gonzalez is a great tennis player , he born 29 July 1980 in Santiago of Chile. He started your career like proffesional tennis player in 1999, but he played tennis since that he was child. He is an internationally known tennis player, has participated in major global tournaments such as Grand Slam and ATP Masters Series. An important victory, widely recognized by the Chileans, it was the gold medal at the Olympic Games of 2008 in doubles with Nicolas Massu. Also is important to mention his outstanding participation in Davis Cup, he made his debut in the Davis Cup team in Chile in April 1998 with only 18 years old. He has participated in every Davis Cup series since then, being a fundamental pillar for Chile.

If I could to make a interview of Fernando Gonzalez , I would like to know more about his beginning like tennis player, and about his life like tennis player. I think that a good questions would be: How difficult is life for a professional sportsman in a country where sport is not a priority?

A good job

I would like talking about a job that haven´t relation with Geography. Only, because talking about a job like geographer is a topic difficult for me in this time.

Always I think that a good job for me have that to be relational with the sea. Since that I was a child I liked the sea, always I liked swim during hours without stop in the beach and go past all time possible in it. Since that I was a child I liked the sea, always I liked swim during hours without stop in the beach and go past all time possible in it. I believe that my adiction and madness for the sea come of my earliest relation with this element.

For all this, I think that an ideal job for me can to be like fisherwoman. I would like have a fleet of launches, for to leave solid land and go out to sail for all coasts of the south of country. Also I would like to stay in the swell for several hours, and to fish differents species of the fish and mollusk. Part of my fleet would stay in rent, for other workers.

I meet person that working like fishermans , I have a uncle and cousin that are fishermans, but they never wanted to take with them when they go fishing, for a things of tradition.

Playing with time

I'm no fan of any character or famous, and less historical! at school I hated history. But as the teacher wants to write about it, I started thinking and I concluded that I would meet three people.

The first is Charles Darwin. I think it would be a very interesting, because we would talk about entertaining topics for both. Topics on the evolution of species and natural selection, I would love to explain his theories, and I tell you all about your trip on the Beagle.

The second historical figure, I'd like to know is Charles Chaplin (Charles is a very special name). I would like to talk with him on the seventh art; I would like to know what is the reason why he dedicated his life to silent films. I also felt he would ask him when his movies were censored, and felt to be exiled. I also felt he would ask him when his movies were censored, and felt to be exiled. I would like to talk about my opinion of his movies, especially my opinion on "The Great Dictator", and after a while talking, ask him if he thinks I would be good for one of his movies.

Finally, I'd like to meet Paulo Coelho. This meeting is possible for me; I have only to wait for him to come to Chile. If I find him, I would like to talk about the different themes of his books, for example about dreams, destiny, symbols, magic and religion. I'd love to talk about life, and tell that I agree, some things with your thinking. I also ask for advice to be a good writer

I want a time machine and teleportation machine!

Fiestas Patrias

I do not know if it's my bad memory or because in my childhood there was not a fiestas patrias with a particular element to remember.
When I was a child, all the fiestas patrias were equal. For September 18 in my house, we cooked “empanadas”, all family members involved. It was great fun filling the “empanadas” with black olives and hard boiled eggs. Sometimes we cooked the “empanadas” in the house of my grandmother (my dad's mom). In this house we gathered all the family by my dad, the “navarros”. We shared with my cousins (Felipe and Diego), uncles and grandparents. In total we were twelve we cooked many pies to reach for everyone! In the table, many stories were told, that eventually were repeated. I remember what I liked sitting next to my grandfather, always at the right of he.
For the September 19, the Navarro family gathered to watch the military parade, as my grandfather was an airman, we had to see it. See the military parade was for me, more than a tradition, it was almost an obligation. I liked seeing the planes on TV, because I always saw them practice, because we live near the flight school. My mom always hoped to see the sailors, he loved! I think it was because they had nice clothes and good physique. Those family gatherings were nice, especially when my grandfather was alive.

The way I feel now the fiestas patrias is different. I think I now understand the real sense that the parties have. At least now I know that is celebrated xD.

Santiago not always is Santiasco

In this great city, the national capital, the most populous of the country, there are many things to do and many places to visit! In Santiago you can do various activities such as the city's largest tourist services are broad and diverse. As a tourist you can visit museums and palaces, parks and plazas, churches and historic buildings. Visit restaurants where you will find typical food and foreign, many pubs and discos with music of different styles.

Although I do not know many places in this giant city, and I'm not a good tourist guide, these are the places that I would recommend to a tourist:

- Plaza Concha y Toro: This is a beautiful place with lots of magic where you can enjoy a good time with your partner. It's a very romantic square.

-Cerro San Cristobal: typical place that every tourist must visit. Viewpoints, palaces, parks, ecology, history and religion in one place.

-Barrio Lastarria: A bohemian place to enjoy with friends a good coffee, good books and good conversation.

-Plaza de Armas de Santiago: A place full of history, architecture, culture and art. Its surroundings are part of the tradition and development of this country.

-Barrio Bellavista: Neighborhood where you can find places for fun, drinking and dancing.

I'm not a fan of Santiago and sometimes I dislike this city, but I must admit it has many beautiful places, and above all an impressive variety of things to do. It is almost impossible to get bored in this city.

I like this store!

There is a shop that I like very much! It is called Casa&Ideas. My memory is bad enough to remember when was the first time you visit that store. But I remember a special occasion, the day I went with my cousin (Javier), my sister (Catiuska) and some friends to the store that is in Puerto Montt. That day was the first time we went alone to the center of town with our friends, and stroll through the mall all the stores! but in Casa&Ideas we had a good time because we found many fun objects as party hats and cushions of many colors and forms, we played and laughed a long time in the store! .

I like this store because this always has many curious, innovative, nice and cheap objects. I love the section called Niños&Ideas because I always find nice things to give away. I like this store because this always has many curious, innovative, nice and cheap objects. I love the section called Niño&Ideas because I always find nice things to give away. The last thing I bought was a soft cushion for my boyfriend; it was two years ago approximately. Lately I have not bought anything in the store because I had no money, but I have seen many things that I liked. If I had the money I'd buy many things from the store!

I think I like this store because it has a variety of decorating objects and accessories, which serve to give a special touch to the different spaces. Everything in the store can be used to create your personal stamp.

Student demonstrations

For starters, I think the student demonstrations are important because they reflect the thinking of the replacement generation. Reflect current issues, concerns and aspirations of society.
The young students have the desire to change everything around them, and enough energy to change the world. They have the need to express their concerns and problems to the world.
Demonstrations are one way that they have to express what they think and feel to society, and on many occasions to express their opinion in relation to government action.

I really like that students can express themselves with freedom. That they can make their thinking public. But I dislike censoring student demonstrations, especially when they are peaceful or express the thought of a great majority of people. Also when the events are for a good cause, or to defend something that is fair.
The most unpleasant is unjustified repression, with excessive police force, tear gas and other measures of repression.

My personal experience with the student demonstrations is short but interesting. When I was in high school, formed a national student movement to change the style of education in the country. This movement was called "Movement penguin" in this basic and university students participated. Many schools and colleges were taken by students to protest the current education system. At the end of this movement were permitted some modifications to the national education system. I have also participated in several demonstrations at the university for the same subject.

To end a phrase that I like: To love is power.

A perfect day

>> ... I am in a journey by sea , with a especial person...I feel the icy wind, my hair moves with it, the swell of the sea accompanying our actions...the sun´rays iluminate our around...the temperature is perfect...everthing in this place is in calm...
All afternoon together..we talking, laughing, playing...we enjoying being alone...in a beatiful place...eating our favourite food, swiming almost like dolphines...
At the end of the day , come to our house... getting things ready for sleep..finally smile for the big day lived... <<

This way was a perfect day for me, many things can be added, although in this story, there are only one things that can not miss... if you are you... is perfect for me...

Concert of Soda Stereo

I don´t remember the exact day when was the concert , but i believe that was in October at the end of the month. I went with my cousins “Luxito” and Silvana and my boyfriend. The place? Nacional stadium of Chile ( now called Julio Martinez Prádanos) , it was my first massive concert paid by my cousin Silvana for me, my boyfriend and her brother. It was a great and unforgettable day. The concert started at seven o´clock , the first was a introduction of a comedian, and then came the band. It was a important concert because was the last concert of Soda Stereo in Chile, the integrants had got together for this last concert.
I decided to go because was a gift of my cousin, and because I liked the band , although I didn´t know many songs of them, nor I was your fans. Also because was an important fact that was the last concert of Soda Stereo in Chile, because them is a recognized band.

I enjoyed very much the concert!! It was a great experience, because I was sharing with some of the people I love most , in a great place with good music. Also because had a good atmosphere , people singing and enjoying with the band, good acoustic and a fabulous play of lights.

I remember a thing very funny....my cousin Luxito singing alone a song called “En remolinos” , he was the only that knew the song , all stadium in silence but he singing with all her heart jajajaja, was very comical.

Chile v/s Honduras

I watched the game in my house, only with my sister and my fat cat. That morning had very much cold, my sister was sleeping, so, i had to scream low to not disturb. My mother was sleeping also, but on the second floor...we had a bad night but I had that to support our selection!

The match was very good, but we had to suffer much. The Hondurans are not very good for football but it seems that they wanted to win! They were minutes of nervousness, anxiety, crying, anger, stress, euphoria, and of course happiness. I remember the last five minutes were horrible for me, I cried so much that my sister woke up!luckily she was not angry. My neighbors also were watching the game, I heard their cries from my house, there were only three men but it sounded like a full stadium! they are very funny jajaja....

I think that all Chilean players were well during the game, all played well in their different positions. I really like Medel and Ponce in defense, Vidal for her multifunctionality on the court, Mati Fernandez (L) because he is the most beautiful and played great and finally Sanchez simply because he is extraordinarily spectacular.

I would like Chile to win the world cup, but do not know if this is possible. But as I said a very good business "nothing is impossible" , in one of these, the destination we have a big surprise.

My favourite geography subject

What is my favourite subject geography?

Is a very difficult questions of to answer for me, because are very much the subjects of the geography that I like me. In general always I have prefered the physical subjects geography as hidrology, climatology and glaciology. But I believe that of all subjects I have had my prefered is Geomorphology.
The teacher that taught us this interesting subject was the great teacher José ARAYA-VERGARA with he we had two subjects: Geomorphology and Quaternary geology. They liked me because we learned a lot about the processes that interfere with the formation and dynamics of different relief in the landscape. Also enjoy all field trips we had, we went to "La parva","Farellones","Cartagena beach", among others..we learned a lot with them, the teacher had a good methodology in field
I think they are matters that will serve us in the future, because they are the type of material considered essential for the geography, every good geographer has to learn about the relief!

A great holiday!

My best holiday was when I and my boyfriend went at fourth region of country, in the summer 2009. In that occasion we were at Serena' city , we met beatifull places of the city as the lighthouse beach, Japanese Park and the Recova market among other. Also we visited the Coquimbo ' city , because it was near, and we knew the english neighborhood and port of Coquimbo. We was for a week, the day we arrived we stayed in a hostel, but the other days were in the house of an aunt of my boyfriend, the aunt Marta! she is a great person , very nice and affectionate.
After of that week in the Serena, we went at "Punta de Choros", at north of the Serena. In where is the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve. We enjoyed very much our stay there, because we traveled dune, we met three beautiful islands, and we saw bottlenose dolphins, plus lots native fauna.

I like geography?

When I chose to study geography I had others options in my mind, but geography was the first. I liked geography, because this career mixing human and physical classes, for example: hydrology, climatology, biogeography and anthropology, sociology, or cultural geography. I could not decide for a career entirely natural or human, because I always liked the two branches, and geography was a career that mixed. I also liked geography because it had an "environmental story" that coincided with my way of thinking. I also liked geography because it had an "environmental accounts" which coincided with my way of thinking, and because the geography could act in aid of the environment.

I remember a cousin, that any day, he said: "You have to study geography," I said, "Are you crazy?, I do not like, wuakala!" but .. .the mouth the fish dies ...He was the only thing that helped me ,a little, to decide to study.

Sometimes I think that geography is not my career, because I feel that I haven´t the qualities that the career requires, but I like it, and I think everything can!.

Still, I do not know where to specialize, I like a lot of geography. At this moment, I prefer the integrated management in coastal areas, I think I would like to work in this area.

( Thanks for your attention / Kisses for everyone! )

A good friend

She is Paz Daniela Aravena Neumann, my best friend.

We are friends for about eight years. I met her the first day in the school, we were new students of Laura Vicuña´s School, from the first moment we had a good connection.
In the school always we made things together, sometimes I went her house and we ate ice cream or carrot with lemon. In other ocassions we saw movies, we studied together and we created songs for learned the differents subjects.
Now, we haven´t very much time for to share, because we have to study and to work. But always we search the form for see us. In general always we see us one or twice for week, or we talk for telephon or "msn". When we together, we talk about the things that happened in the week for a long time, never we lie down before at 2:00 a.m! Also in ocassion, we go out dancing with others friends.
The Pazita is a very good person, very funny, simpatic and affectionate. Always she is when I need her with words of support or with some crazy things that happy me. I think we are very good amigas because we are very alike.

Pichilemu: Work, Entertainment and Learning

The Simon´s questions :

What was the most interesting part of the Field Trip?

The most interesting was to know how people lived the earthquake and tsunami of February 27. My work group studied about the risks of the zone, and we were that investigate how the persons of pichilemu reacted to the events of that day with surveys. It was a very good experience for me.

What you learnt about the subject you were studying?

I learned that some people in Pichilemu reacted good at the tsunami because they were informed about what they had to do in case of tsunami, but other the fear of blocked. We also learned that the people before what happened on February 27, they didn´t feel that was in a natural hazard zone.

Whether or not you would like to live in Pichilemu?

I would like live a time in Pichilemu while I learn to surf . But I don´t like always live in Pichilemu because is a “ gray” city.

My favourite post by Carol, is called “technology” above all the introduction of this, because I don´t big fan of the technology like she. I think that in this post, she wrote of a form very entertaining and the image that she chose was very good.
In general, the posts of the Carol are simple of to understand for me, I like her blog! and always I reading her posts, I believe that everybody will like it too. I think that reading the blog´s Carol we can to know more about her life and the things that she prefers.

My favorite free activity is dance. I enjoy dancing and watching dance pieces on television or in theaters. I like all styles, but I love the rhythm of salsa and Spanish music.

I think I always loved dancing since I was a girl! when I was in school and high school always participated in the workshops of dance, and always struggled to inscrbirme them.

For the free time I have, I can not go dancing with my friends to places like discos, but in my house, often dance alone or with my sister.

I like her dance because people can express different things, especially emotions. Also through the dance people can feel free, and because for me is a form of relaxation.

>> I dislike to hear people say that can not dance, because you just need enthusiasm! . You do not dance bad, if when you dance express what you feel.<<

A purpose of the dance!! ... I wish you all a good day of Dance! (APRIL 29), hopefully can come out "to move the skeleton" with his friends, And why not? alone, may be a good opportunity to meet new people.

Clash of the Titans

Directed by Louis Leterrier

Cast: Sam Worthington as Perseus

Liam Neeson as Zeus

Ralph Fiennes as Hades

Gemma Arterton as Io

Alexa Davalos as Andromeda

The last movie I saw was "Clash of the Titans", the last weekend.
The film tells the story of Perseus, a Greek demigod who fights against Hades (the god of the underworld) to save the city of Argos.
Perseus was the son of Zeus and a mortal woman, the wife of a king. The king ordered to kill the child and his wife. Perseus was found by a fisherman who raised him as his son.
Perseus Hares hates because he killed his family, when they accidentally saw the soldiers in the city of Argos destroyed the statue of Zeus.
Hares gives a lesson to humans of Argos, by the disrespect shown to the gods of Olympus, he asked for the blood of the princess of that city (Andromeda) for the Kraken, a sea monster he created. The only person who could save the princess and the city was Perseus, because he was a demigod. But who can beat the Kraken, it needed the head of Medusa. Perseus in search of Medusa's head, has to contend with many strange creatures! but finally he manages to save the Princess Andromeda Argos and the fury of Hades.

I loved this movie! It was very entertaining, had many good effects. The movie kept you focused.

Go see it in the cinema!

The best technology

In my opinion, the best technology in the world is the telephone! It is esencial instrument for me.
We will to learn with a soon history:

" From the moment Alexander Graham Bell yelled those famous words, "Come here Mr. Watson, I want to see you!", the business of providing telephone service was off and running. Soon after that fateful day of March 10, 1876, Bell and Watson were demonstrating the instrument.
In 1877, construction of the first regular telephone line from Boston to Somerville, Massachusetts was completed. By the end of 1880, there were 47,900 telephones in the United States. Service between New York and Chicago started in 1892, and between New York and Boston in 1894. The first switchboard was set up in Boston in 1877. On January 17, 1882, Leroy Firman received the first patent for a telephone switchboard"

Thank you Mr. Bell !!
Now, a soon of my history with the telephone :
I use the phone since I was a child, I needed to communicate with my family in Puerto Montt or with my parents when I was on vacation, but I don´t remember much about it jajaja...

I always used the telephone when I went to school. Every day I was talking with my best friend by telephone, my parents were not happy with that! jajaja...

And now, I always use the phone for talked with my boyfriend, my friends and my familiy of Pto Montt.

The phone is good because with it I can know about the people I love, and be communicated with them. I could not live happily without it.

In my opinion the phone is better than the mobile phone!!

Why not forget a moment that I exist?

I'm bored
I'm tired
I'm exhausted
I collapsed
I'm stressed
And above all sad and disappointed

(a stranger is in me)

...I was not and I can not give up I continue strong...

But I, with all my heart, give me a break, a short and simple breathing, to renew my energies and continue ..
Please! for a second, forget that I exist.

Chronicle of an earthquake unlived

  • 27th Feb 2010: 3.25 I was sleeping in a confortable bed in the cosy bedroom of my grandmother´s house.

  • 27th Feb 2010: 3.30 I woke up for a bad dream

  • 27th Feb 2010: 3.34 It´s an earthsquakel ! I ´m sitting in my bed and i think “it is strong, but soon it will stop”. In that moment my aunt ( that is like my other mother) tells me to go downstairs and open all the doors of the house. I do everything she asks me , while she helps my grandma walking to the door…we were there, huggins in the door and I think “it don´t stop”...

  • 27th Feb 2010: 3.40 All my family (of Puerto Montt) was in the house of my grandma, we were nervous and confused, but together and well. We all thought that the quake had been alone in the south of the country, and some thought that the volcano Chaiten had guilt.

  • 27th Feb 2010: 4.05 With my cousin went to the house of my Tia Nena to see how she was and we heard on the radio what had happened
" An earthquake of intensity of 8.5 degrees on the Richter scale, according to preliminary estimates by the Seismological Institute of EE.UU., occurred in the central area just after 03:34 pm with the epicenter of the Bio Bio Region. In Santiago, the intensity was 8.0 degrees"
I think "Oh no! There was an earthquake in Santiago ... I want and need to know how my family, my boyfriend, my friends!
  • 27th Feb 2010: 11.30 I had not slept, and my aunt and my grandmother also because of the shock. I do not know anything about my family, boyfriend and friends, was very worried. But the signal returned my cell phone! and I knew that all were well finally can sleep.

With the passing of the hours, the news showed all that the earthquake and subsequent tsunami had done. It was shocking to me. With the passing of the hours, the news showed all that the earthquake and subsequent tsunami had done. It was shocking to me. A part of me was happy and calm because the people I love were fine, but another part of me was sad for all the suffering that was in the country.

I think the authorities took very bad choices .. that there were many deaths and losses that could be avoided. However, nobody was prepared for what happened and now it is best to focus the energy on how to help those affected. And of course learn from mistakes.

(I did not experience an earthquake, I just felt a strong tremor )

After many difficulties .... My favourite song!

In this moment my favourite song is " Las Horas" of Chilean band Saiko. This song is part of the fourth album of the band called the hours (like my favorite song), that was published in the year 2004.

Saiko is a band of alternative rock and new wave, but the style of this song, according to his her composers, is more a rocker that different her songs because in the music of "Las Horas" song the battery, guitar stands out.

I do not remember when it was the first time that listens to this song! but it was a lot of time ago behind.
How often do I listen to this song? Mmm...sometimes, when i like to feel well.
Why do I like this song? Mmm...for three reasons: 1 / The song relaxes me. 2/ I think that the letter of the song is very pretty and that it has something that to see with my life. 3/ Because the song is of a Chilean group ;)

Lyric

Desiertos, ríos, mar...
Esconden mi paz
Detienen el tiempo intacto
Desciendo hasta el final
Por donde empezar
Señales que digan algo
Despierto sin lograr
Soñar el lugar
Que muerda el vació de años
Viajando un día más
Espero encontrar
